Carving pumpkins with Daddy

Thursday Kacy had Bunco, and since I will be out of town next week, I decided it would be a good night to carve pumpkins with the kids. My friend Tyler and his daughter came over.cThe kids had fun getting all the 'guts' out of the pumpkin, then carving them (or watching Daddy and Tyler carve them). I had bought a few books of designs for pumpkins, they actually turned out pretty cool. Dawson had to make an incredibles one since we're all being the incredibles for Halloween, then he had to put on his Dash costume, since Kennidee and Kyson had pictures in their costumes on the blog already. Kennidee wanted to make Cinderella's castle, I didn't think it turned out that great, but once we lit it up and turned off the lights, it looked pretty good. Kinsey (Tyler) picked out a skull and crossbones. Kyson was a great spectator, buckled in his high chair chowing down on a corn dog!

Here are the kids cleaning out the guts!

Here are the kids with their finished pumpkins!

And here are the pumpkins all lit up.

Halloween sugar cookies with the kids!

So tonight we decided to make Halloween sugar cookies with the kids. I had made dough earlier in the day and then that night I helped the kids roll them out and cut them. They had so much fun. After we had them all cooked they got to decorate them. They had so much fun. I only gave them each 10 to decorate. The kids had lots of fun putting M & M's and sprinkles all over them. Kennidee was really good about using a Napkin when she got it on her hands. Dawson on the other hand would lick in between each cookie (this explains why they only had 10 each). I frosted the rest to give out to friends. It was such a good time and the kids enjoyed it alot.

Jason put frosting on Dawson's nose. At first Dawson thought it was super funny but then he got mad.

But you told me to Dad!

So I wanted to wash Dawson's bedding today and I asked him when he got home from school to please go and get his bedding of his bed and into the laundry room. He of course did not listen and said "Later Mom" Well later came and he still did not do it. When Jason got home he told Dawson to go down and take everything off his bed so I could wash his sheets. Well a few minutes later Dawson came upstairs and Jason asked him if he had put it in the laundry room and he said no. So Jason followed him downstairs to find this.....

Well he did get everything of the bed like he was told. What can you do? Just laugh! No wonder it did not make it to the laundry room.

Another Proud Parent Moment!

So 2 weeks ago at church Dawson volunteered to give a talk in Primary. This is the first time this year that he has done one and so I was very happy that he finally got to. I have a serious phobia of getting up in front of people and really don't want my kids to be like that. So Saturday night Jason sat down with Dawson and had Dawson choose a topic. Dawson chose Temples. Dawson then wrote his own talk. Of course when Sunday came around and it was time to give the talk he said the first line and then got nervous and hid behind the stand. Jason was lucky enough to give the rest of Dawson's talk. I am so proud of Dawson that he was able to write his own talk though. He has such an amazingly strong spirit. Every night he has to listen to kids scripture stories to go to sleep. He loves the Gospel and learning about it and can't wait to be Baptized and someday be sealed to us. Here is his talk!

My talk is on temples.

I love when we drive by temples, I feel good when I look at them, and when I walk around the temples I feel good because of the Holy Ghost.

In the temple we can be baptized for people who were not baptized when they were alive.

We also go for ourselves to receive blessings.

We also can be sealed to our family for eternity.

We are blessed to live so close to so many temples.

I hope that some day I can be sealed to my family in the temple, that would be a very special day for me.

In the name of Jesus Christ Amen

Time to Brag!

A few weeks ago I had parent teacher conference for Dawson. Every parent can relate when I say that I was so nervous what she was going to say. At home I definitely have struggles with Dawson. Last year I always got good reports from his Kindergarten teacher but now he is in all day so I was not sure what to expect. Well I was so happy when I left. Mrs. Skillicorn had so much good stuff to say about Dawson. She said he is the most advanced student in reading that she has ever had. She said that he is doing wonderful in math and is a perfectionist in all of his work (I have no idea where he gets that from). She also said he is the most respectful little boy. I was so happy to hear that I seriously thought I was going to cry cause I was so proud of him. He was also very happy cause she sent chapter books home with him that night to read. He was running down the hall swinging it around telling everyone that he gets to read chapter books. Being a parent is so rewarding when you watch them growing and excelling so much. I love watching my kids learn new things.

Dawson is such a wonderful little boy. We are so blessed to have him in our family. He is such a wonderful big brother and Kennidee and Kyson look up to him so much. We love you Dawson.

Our little Getaway!

Since it was UEA and the kids were out of school I decided to take a trip down to St. George to visit my family. So Wednesday we headed out after dance class. Since it wasn't our holiday time then I did not have Dawson. I had been invited to a Halloween party with the kids on Wednesday night. We got down here just in time to get the kids dressed and head to the party. It was at Kori's friends parent's house. They do it every year and they have a potluck dinner and then all sorts of little games for the kids. They even had a Hurst. Kennidee and Kyson looked so cute in their little costumes. They had a super fun time at the party. I can't wait til Halloween. I seriously love this time of year.

On Thursday Me, Kori, Jill and my friend Christy took the kids to Staheli Farms(I am a loser and forgot my camera this day so I don't have pictures from Thursday). They have all sorts of fun activities for the kids like a petting zoo, Corn slide, swings, straw tunnels and of course the maze. After dark they do a scary corn maze as well. Since Kori's kids are a little older they insisted on doing the scary corn maze. Jill was a good sport and offered to watch the little kids so that Kori and I could take her kids. Kennidee insisted on going through it as well. I explained to her that it was scary and she still wanted to go. Of course after she was so freaked I could not get her to stop crying. It really wasn't that scary but for a 4 year old I can only imagine.

Friday night I got to go out with my sisters and my brother in law. We went to Texas Roadhouse and that is my favorite. I love it. Saturday was a super lazy day. Kori and I made sugar cookies and then my friend Christy and Jeremiah came over to watch movies at my sisters house. Sunday Kori and I were bored so she cut and dyed my hair. So now I am back to dark again. I love it though. Tomorrow we are heading back home. It is nice to be away but I am ready to be home. Not looking forward to all the laundry that I get to do after vacation time. (Brittany want to come and fold)? When is my vacation from my vacation?

New Family Pictures

So we went a little early this year to do our family pictures. Rather then the normal Kiddie Kandids ones that we do we thought we would do something different this year. There is this place here in Lehi that I have seen alot of people doing pictures at this place and loved it. I also like the "not so traditional" style. So here are our new pictures. We loved the way they turned out. Even though my kids were being huge stinkers. I felt really bad for Shelly cause the kids were so difficult. But here they are.

Here are some of the kids together and alone.

And of course we had to do one of Daddy with his little princess and Mommy with her little princess too.

We did one of Daddy and his boys and then a few of Jason and I.

AND THE WINNER IS.....

Okay so for our contest that we had earlier in the week here are the results. We actually spent $77.79. For those that guessed lower then $50.00 I really hope that you were just trying to stay below what we really spent. The winner for that prize is the one and only (Drum roll please)

Lacey guessed that we spent $70.00. Good Guess.

Now the next part of the contest was how much we would have spent. Some of the guesses make me wonder if people really grocery shop. You figure that Lucky Charms alone are around $4.00 a box unless on sale. So what we would have spent was $231.35. Now granted I would have never purchased some of these items had I not gotten them for less then a dollar but what a steal. So the winner for the 2nd prize is the one and only (another drum roll please)

Yes Tyler won the second prize. A man can you believe it. Well believe it I think he like grocery shopping. LOL So Tyler I know where to find you but Lacey send me your address and we will seriously send you a prize. Better Luck next time!

This is why I'm HOT!

So Jason had a company party a few weeks back. It was for the whole families. Well one of the girls that he works with planned the Digital Gateway Olympic Events. They consisted of several different games like three legged race, balloon pop, potatoe sack race, balance the egg race and several other events. They divided us out into different color groups and let the games begin. For the most part the kids were doing all the competing while us parents watched and cheered them on. Dawson and another boy were winning them for our groups. We were not able to finish all the fun events that Krista had planned but there was also one more that the adults had to compete in. We could not have the kids do this one. So since I was the shortest in our group of the adults (well some of the kids too) I got volunteered to do this one by my wonderful husband who loves to see me make a fool of myself. So Pictures will explain it all. And by the way I did not win. Check out the guy next to me. He had the right idea.

I did volunteer Jason later for the pie eating contest unfortunately we ran out of time and were not able to do all of them.

Cute Handbags

Hey this website has super cute handbags. They are also doing a free handbag contest. Click on the link above to enter.

Come on Down! You're the next contestant on the Price is Right!

So Okay tonight my sister calls me at about 9:15 p.m. and tells me to get on my computer and go to this link. So like a good sister I obey. She then tells me to type in the following code: g84rcm so I follow then she starts telling me to click here and here and there and then print and blah blah blah. Next thing I know I am on my way to the local Albertsons with a list, a handful of coupons (now mind you I never ever mess with coupons) and best of all I am in my pajamas. However because I am in my pajamas and Jason is home I get to go without the Three Stooges in my arms. So I get to Albertsons at 10:05 and after filling my cart with 24 boxes of cereal, 8 ready to bake cookie doughs, 2 frostings, 2 gallons of milk, 4 pillsbury crescent rolls, toothpaste, 2 toaster strudels, 4 boxes of gogurts, 4 trix yogurts, 2 betty crocker cookie pouches, 2 betty crocker chessy potatoes, 2 grands biscuits, 4 pillsbury cinnamon rolls, 2 boxes of chex bars, a very long receipt and a ton of savings I head home. I get home so proud of myself and all the savings. I decided to lay it all out on the counter and show off the savings.

Now I am not going to disclose what I paid or what I saved. That is for you to guess. Yes this is a game! Jason decided (While I was carefully posing all the food on the counter for the big picture) that we were going to see who could guess what I spent and what I would have spent without ANY discounts or coupons. So whoever guesses what I spent without going over we will send a prize. Now there will also be given a prize to whoever can guess what we would have spent. So get your comments with your guesses fast. On Friday I will post my receipt and announce winners!!!! Happy Guessing!

***Guess must be submitted by 11:23 p.m. mountain time Thursday 10/9/08. One entry per household. The Plott family is not responsible for any taxes for prizes given. Not valid for residents of North and South Dakota, Delaware, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Prize cannot be returned. May be used for white elephant gifts at christmas parties.
